RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech women's cross country team as well as the men's and women's golf teams have been selected as the winners of the 2024-25 Great American Conference Sportsmanship Awards for their respective sports.
OFFICIAL GAC RELEASE
Selected by the league head coaches in each sport, the award is the first as a member of the GAC for women's cross country and men's golf, while it is the second sportsmanship award for women's golf. Arkansas Tech's three awards was tied for the most this past year with Ouachia Baptist who won in football, softball and women's track and field.
"These awards emphasize the NCAA Division II focus on sportsmanship and game environment," GAC Commissioner Will Prewitt said. "We could not be prouder of what these programs have put forth on their areas of competition and in ways that aren't necessarily reflected in the outcome."
In 2012, The GAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiated a sportsmanship award to be presented for all team sports. The winning school will receive a banner similar to the one presented to GAC tournament championship winners. The goal of the program is for member institutions to promote good sportsmanship among its teams, fans, and all involved with the events.
