SEARCY, Ark. – The stacked early season non-conference schedule continued for the Arkansas Tech on Sunday afternoon as they took on NCAA Division I Murray State. The Golden Suns were very competitive in the match, but fell by a score of 6-1.
Doubles action was close, but Murray State ultimately won all three matches to win the point. The closest of those doubles matches came at No. 3 as
Meaghan Butler and
Maria Krite pushed their opponent past the six points needed for a win and lost 7-5.
In singles play, only one set did not yield at least one game win for the Golden Suns.
The most competitive flight came at No. 2 singles where
Elis Gergel continued her solid week of play. After dropping the first set 2-6, Gergel forced split sets with a 6-3 win in set two. Gergel then went on to win the match as she won the tiebreak, 12-10.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for a home match against the University of the Ozarks on Wednesday, March 5. First-serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
