MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team dropped their first Great American Conference match of the season on Friday as they lost 7-0 on the road at nationally-ranked No. 11 Southern Arkansas.
In doubles action, the Golden Suns dropped the first two matches, losing 6-2 in flight one and 6-2 as well in flight three. The flight two doubles pairing of
Sofia Beggiatto and
Elis Gergel won their match, 6-4.
In singles play, SAU won the first three singles matches in straight sets to clinch the overall win. The Muleriders would go on to win the final three singles matches as well, but had to do so in tiebreakers in flights two and five.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for another road conference match coming up on Tuesday, April 11 at Henderson State. First-serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
