CONWAY, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days on Monday as they beat nearby Hendrix College on the road, 8-1.
Playing under NCAA Division III scoring rules, all three doubles matches counted as a point in the match and with that, the Golden Suns raced out to a 3-0 lead in the match with wins in all three flights of doubles play.
The duo of
Madalena Amil and
Maria Krite finished first at flight two with an 8-3 win.
Monica Balau and
Melanie Griffiths were next at flight one, 8-5, while
Meaghan Butler and
Nabilah Dunn took care of business at flight three, 8-4.
Singles play was smooth sailing for the Golden Suns as they won the five flights they played before conceding flight six with the match already in hand.
Kristyna Dvorakova was first to win at flight three doing so, 6-2, 6-0. Butler was just as dominant winning her flight five match, 6-1, 6-1.
Balau won at flight two, 6-2, 6-3 followed by Amil at flight one, 6-3, 6-1. Griffiths' flight four match was last to come to completion with Griffiths winning, 6-2, 6-4.
The Golden Suns will now prepare for a non-conference match with Henderson State at home this coming Wednesday. First-serve from the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
