BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The No. 2-seed Arkansas Tech women's tennis team had their 2022 season come to a close in the semifinal round for the Great American Conference Tournament on Saturday as they lost to No. 3-seed Southeastern Oklahoma, 4-0.
The doubles point was closely-contested, but ultimately, it was Southeastern Oklahoma who came away with the point. The Savage Storm claimed the first doubles match winning at No. 3, 6-4. The Golden Suns then evened things up with a 6-2 win at No. 2. The decisive top-flight doubles match had Southeastern win, 6-4.
In singles play, the top three flights went unfinished as the Savage Storm collected straight sets win at the bottom three singles flights. The Savage Storm won at No. 5, 6-0, 6-3; at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0; and at No. 6, 6-2, 6-4.
In the matches that went unfinished,
Daniela Baez, at No. 3 singles, was up 1-0 and was tied five-all in the second set.
Aastha Dargude at No. 2 was down 1-0 and down in the second set, 5-3. At No. 1 singles,
Lea Grinberg was down 1-0 and working towards split sets leading 3-2 in the second set.
