PITTSBURG, Kan. - Coming off a strong day one at the 7th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic hosted by Pitt State University, the Arkansas Tech Women's Track & Field team once again saw improvement in the 3,000m and the mile to close out the final day of the meet.

Competing in the 3,000 meter race for Arkansas Tech was
Karina Maravillas who finished strong with the junior setting a new personal record for herself. Maravillas took home 24th overall in the 3,000 and ran a time of 10:41.43 to mark the first improvement of the day for the junior.
ONE MILE
There were a total of seven representing the Golden Suns in the mile.

Calli Beshore,
Ashlynn Mays,
Morganne Browning,
Marcie Cudworth ,
Felicity West and Maravillas all suited up in the mile for the green and gold. Bailey was the first to cross the finish line for Arkansas Tech with a time of 5:12.12 and placed 29th overall. Coming in behind Bailey was Beshore at the 33rd spot with a 5:14.61 overall time. Mays was next with a 5:17.53 time and finishing 37th in the race.
Following the first three finishers for the Golden Suns was Browning with a 5:21.09 overall time and 43rd overall. Arkansas Tech had two back-to-back finishers next first with Maravillas, directly followed by Cudworth. Maravillasfinished 51st overall with a 5:25.61 overall time, while Cudworth clocked in at 5:25.71 landing at the 52nd overall spot. Rounding out the group in the mile was West finishing at 56th overall with a time of 5:32.00.
Maravillas earned her second PR of the day in the mile, while teammates Beshore, Bailey, Browning and Mays also set new personal records for the mile.

The Golden Suns have officially wrapped up the indoor season and will get a break before they begin their 2022 outdoor track & field season. Tech will begin the outdoor season on Friday, March 18 where they will head to Conway, Ark. to compete in the Richard Martin Jr. Invitational hosted by the University of Central Arkansas.
