PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Arkansas Tech Women's Track & Field team opened day one of the 7th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic strong with a solid performance in the 5,000 meter race finishing with a top five average of 18:20.

Ashlynn Mays,
Mary Beth Bailey,
Morganne Browning,
Calli Beshore,
Marcie Cudworth and
Felicity West were the six members of the Golden Suns competing in the 5,000. Crossing the finish line first was Mays with a 17:59.66 time giving her a top-10 finish at ninth place. Bailey followed Mays reaching the end with a time of 18:07.27 and took home the 14th overall finish.Â
Browning, Beshore and Cudworth were the next members of the Golden Suns to finish with times of 18:30.10, 18:33.36 and 18:36.48 respectfully. The trio finished right on top of each other at the 20th, 21st and 22nd overall spots. Rounding out the group for Tech in the 5,000 was West who placed 37th overall with a time of 19:29.49.Â
Not only did the team finish with a top five average, but Mays, Bailey, Browning, Cudworth and West all set new PR's on the night.
