DURANT, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns dropped the rubber game against the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Suns concluded their regular season schedule with a 25-16-1 overall record and a 21-9 mark in Great American Conference play.
The Golden Suns now await their matchup in the GAC championship tournament starting May 14 in Bentonville, Ark.
The Savage Storm got on the board first in the bottom of the second before the Golden Suns tied things up in the top of the fourth off a bomb from
Makenzie Goins. Arkansas Tech took the lead in the top of the fifth after
Abbie Cain singled to center field and later scored on a double from
Caitlyn Wells to put the Golden Suns up 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, Southeastern Oklahoma took the lead, going up 3-2. The Golden Suns were unable to convert in the top of the seventh after Cain doubled to left field and Wells drew a walk.
Paty Loredo and Cain each had two hits in the game while
Tymber Riley, Wells and Goins all posted a hit apiece. Wells and Goins each recorded an RBI in the game.
