RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following a weekend in which he raised his season batting average over 80 points, Arkansas Tech redshirt junior shortstop Drew Bailey has been named as the Great American Conference Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
 
In the three-game sweep of Southern Nazarene, Bailey hit .583 (7-for-12) with three runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
 
All three of his doubles came in the opener as he went 4-for-6 in that game. Both of his homers came in the finale as he drove in a season-high five runs as well.
 
In addition to his batting average, Bailey had an on-base percentage of .571 and an eye-popping 1.333 slugging percentage.
 
Bailey and the Wonder Boys are preparing for a four-game week of action as they will travel to Arkadelphia to play a non-conference game against Henderson State on Tuesday and then return home for a big weekend series with Oklahoma Baptist with first place in the GAC on the line.
