TECH BREAKS RECORD, CORONADO WALK-OFF HELP SUNS SWEEP SWOSU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech broke the score record for hits in a single game with 21 hits in the opening 14-9 win over the Lady Bulldogs. Sarah Coronado provided the late game heroics in the nightcap as her walk-off two-run home run helped the Golden Suns softball team (24-12, 18-6 Great American Conference) complete the sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State (11-24, 10-16), winning the finale 6-5.

  • The Golden Suns return to the field on Friday, April 5 as Tech travels to Ada, Okla. for a four game series with Northwestern Oklahoma State. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.

  • The Golden Suns tallied 21 hits, setting a new Arkansas Tech school record for hits in a single game. All nine starters recorded a hit, led by Sydnie Henson and Tymber Riley who each went 4-for-5. Riley also hit a double and scored twice.
  • Ashton Sangster and Paty Loredo both went 3-for-5. Sangster also scored twice, while Loredo added a career-high six RBIs.
  • Makenzie Goins went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, her third home run of the season.

  • Coronado's walk-off two-run home run helped Tech complete the sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma. With the win the Golden Suns sit in second place in the GAC standings with an 18-6 conference record.
  • Tech notched eight hits, led by Gaby Vasquez and Makenzie Addis who each recorded two hits and an RBI. Addis also scored twice.
  • Sydnie Henson went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
  • Tolar picked up her second win of the season after pitching a scoreless seventh.
