GOLDEN SUNS LOSE CLOSE DECISION TO SOUTHEASTERN IN ARKADELPHIA

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Arkansas Tech women's tennis suffered just its second conference loss of the spring season on Sunday, losing a 5-4 decision to Southeastern Oklahoma State in Arkadelphia.

  • Arkansas Tech (9-5, 2-2 GAC) will close out the regular season with two home duals later this week. The Golden Suns host Harding at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, before facing Henderson State in Russellville at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Megan Bell and Teresa Sanchez gave Arkansas Tech the first lead of the dual, with a 8-2 win in No. 3 doubles. The victory is the first the season for the duo.
  • Katharina Drebka and Julia Schoch put the Suns ahead 2-0 with their first doubles victory this season, winning the No. 1 doubles match, 8-5.
  • Southeastern Oklahoma (6-9, 3-0 GAC) answered with wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles to even the score, but Kami Ward took the No. 3 singles match in straight sets for her seventh singles victory of the spring.
  • In the No. 5 singles match, Rowlands earned her team-leading eighth victory this spring, but the Suns dropped the No. 4 singles and No. 6 singles matches giving Southeastern its third conference win of the season.
