SUNS FALL TO SAU

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Despite a two-hit effort by Janie Knowles and four solid innings in relief by Morgan Vaughan, the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (36-21) dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 21 Southern Arkansas (44-14) on Thursday afternoon at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

  • Gum suffered the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in three innings of work.
  • Vaughan was solid in relief for the Golden Suns, scattering three hits over four innings and fanning five.
  • Tech's biggest offensive threats came in the late stages of the ballgame, as the Golden Suns loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the sixth and put one run across on a walk, however, a triple play allowed SAU to escape the frame with minimal damage.
