GOLDEN SUNS SWEEP OKLAHOMA BAPTIST

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Jalissa Gum fired a one-hitter in the opening game, while Janie Knowles, Sarah Coronado, Megan Goodnight, and Bailey Shaffer all collected two hits apiece in the nightcap as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (20-10, 14-4 Great American Conference) collected a doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Baptist, winning the opener 5-1 before taking a 4-3 victory in the finale.

  • Tolar picked up the win in relief after tossing four no-hit innings and fanning two. Starter Morgan Vaughan lasted 2.2 innings, surrendering three runs on five hits while Shaffer tossed 0.1 innings in relief to get the Golden Suns out of the third inning.
  • The sweep pushed the Golden Suns over the 20-win plateau for the fifth consecutive season – marking the first time in the history of the Arkansas Tech softball program that the team has reached that mark for five consecutive seasons.
