GOLDEN SUNS AND REDDIES HALVE TWO MORE EXTRA-INNING GAMES

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Arkansas Tech and Henderson State followed Sunday's longest game in Tech and Great American Conference history of 19 innings with two more extra-inning contests on Monday. The Reddies defeated the Golden Suns, 2-1, in 10 innings in game one, but Tech got revenge with a 4-3 victory in nine innings to split the series.

NOTABLES
  • The four seven-inning-game series with Henderson State totaled 45 innings of softball, including the 19-inning contest on Sunday. Tech and HSU went into extra innings in three of four games.
  • Arkansas Tech took the first lead of the day in game one, with a sacrifice fly by Vasquez. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, however, the Reddies scored the tying run on an error. Henderson State later scored on a game-winning single in the 10th, the Reddies' second walk-off hit of the series.
  • Tolar went the distance in the circle for the Golden Suns in game one, pitching 9.1 innings. She allowed just one earned run and struck out a season-high eight batters. She also led Tech on offense, tallying two hits and two walks.
  • The Suns grabbed the first lead of the game in the second contest, as well, with a home run in the fourth inning by Sangster. Goodnight later hit her sixth homer of the season to tie the score at three and force extra innings again.
  • In the top of the ninth inning in game two, Knowles singled with two outs to allow Sangster to score the winning run from second. Shaffer then held the Reddies scoreless in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory. Shaffer pitched the final five innings for the Suns, allowing just two hits to earn her third win of the season.
