The Hime File

Alma Mater, Year Univ. of Arkansas-Little Rock, 2014
Years at Arkansas Tech 3rd Season (XC); 2nd Season (TRACK)

Brock Hime recently completed his third year at the helm of Arkansas Tech Cross Country, and in his second season as the head coach of the Golden Suns Track & Field program. In 2020, Hime was selected as the Central Region Representative for the NCAA DII National Track & Field Committee, and will serve a four-year term.

Under Hime, the Golden Suns cross country program has risen to new heights and is building into one of the top programs in the GAC, the region and nationally. In each of the past two seasons (2020 & 2021), Hime has coached his team to runner-up finishes in the GAC Championship Meet. When that was achieved for the first time in 2020, that marked the highest-ever finish for a Golden Suns cross country team at a conference championship meet.

That success was built upon at the regional level as Hime and his 2021 Golden Suns cross country team posted their highest-ever finish at a NCAA Regional Meet as they finished 15th.

In cross country, Hime has coached 13 all-conference runners with four being first team honorees. Among those, Hime also had the 2020 GAC Freshman of the Year in Ashlynn Mays.

In track and field, Hime is building the program from the ground-up, and in a short time, has his athletes consistently posting PRs in numerous events.

Prior to arriving at Arkansas Tech, Brock spent the 2018-19 year at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He was first an assistant and was then promoted to the associate head coach for both the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs. While at Northwestern, Hime coached the men’s first ever All-GAC cross country runner as well as the first All-GAC 10,000m runner on the women’s side. Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams were name Academic All-Americans.

Before coaching collegiately, Hime was the head cross country and track & field coach and assistant athletic director at Providence Academy in Rogers, Ark.

Hime is an alumnus of the University of Arkansas Little Rock, where he won the 2012 Sunbelt Cross Country Championship. Prior to attending UALR, Hime spent one season at Cowley Community College, where he won the NJCAA team cross country national championship and the half-marathon national championship, earning All-American honors in the process. Hime earned his master's in sport management from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Hime is married to Regan (Ward) Hime, former All-SEC distance runner for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The couple have a daughter and reside in Russellville.
