RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Coming off two of her best career games against Arkansas-Monticello and Henderson State this past week, senior guard Anissa Pounds earned the Great American Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Pounds began the week with a 10-point performance against Harding, six of which came in a big comeback effort in the fourth quarter.
 
In her final game in Tucker Coliseum, Pounds recorded her 14th game where she scored 20 or more points. Pounds finished the game with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field while going a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point arc. She also dished out seven assists while committing just one turnover and also tallied three steals.

Pounds finished out the week with an incredible performance against Henderson State. Pounds recorded her first career game with 30-plus points, scoring a career-high 34 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, 7-of-11 from the three-point arc, and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Pounds was particularly clutch from the foul line late in the game, making 6-of-6 free throws in the final minute after the Reddies cut it to a one-possession game to seal the victory for the Suns.

In the three games combined, Pounds finished with 66 points (22 points per game) on 20-of-34 (59-percent) shooting from the floor, 10-of-20 (50-percent) from three, and 16-of-17 (94-percent) from the free throw line. Pounds also compiled 12 assists and four steals in the three contests.
 
The Golden Suns will be back on the road this week as they will play at East Central on Thursday, Feb. 23 and will close out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Southeastern Oklahoma.
