WONDER BOYS ADD 38 ON NATIONAL SIGNING DAY

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - 38 high school student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) to compete for the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team in the 2017 season, head coach Raymond Monica announced Wednesday. 26 of those newcomers hail from the state of Arkansas.

"I'd like to thank our coaching staff for doing an outstanding job recruiting a tremendous class of student-athletes," said Wonder Boys head coach Raymond Monica. "I'd also like to thank everybody else on our campus who took time out of their schedules to help us reach out to our recruits. Today is the day all that hard work comes together, and these signees along with our eight mid-year transfers will bring a lot to our program."

Arion Banks
DE / 6-3 / 230 / Marianna, Ark. (Lee County)
Lettered at Lee High School... notched 197 tackles, 25 sacks, 42.5 TFL, and forced five fumbles while breaking up 10 passes... a two-time all-conference pick, was also named to the All-State team for Class 3A... played on the 2015 Class 3A-2 conference championship squad. 

Trey Coulter

Lettered at Fayetteville High School... picked up five interceptions while notching 147 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, three sacks, six forced fumbles, 36 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and five blocked kicks.

Lettered at Elkins High School for coach Chad Harbison... an all-state, all-conference selection... named to the All-NWADG team... State Farm Hooten's Award Watch List... played on the 2016 Class 1-3A conference championship team.

Cale Fulsom
QB / 6-2 / 170 / Russellville, Ark. (Russellville)
Played on the 2016 Arkansas state champion Russellville Cyclones team... a two-time all-conference selection, he was also an all-state pick and the Offensive Player of the Year... named MVP of the state championship. 

Garrett Gray
OL / 6-1 / 270 / Russellville, Ark. (Russellville)
A two-way lineman at Russellville High School, earned three letters... graded out at 89% as a senior while leading the team in pancake blocks... an all-conference pick, was named lineman of the year... played on the 2016 state championship team... his father, Philip, lettered for the Wonder Boys from 1990-93. 

Mark Johnson
DE / 6-1 / 220 / Shreveport, La. (Byrd)
Lettered at Byrd High School for coach Mike Suggs... A second team all-district selection, he was also an academic all-state pick... played on the 2013 state runner-up team, the 2014 undefeated District 1-5A champions, and the state quarter finalists... racked up 34 total tackles, including 12 for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass breakup. 

Damon Nelson

Lettered at Har-Ber High School for coach Chris Wood... a two-time all-state pick, a two-time NWADG All-Arkansas pick, and the 2016 NWA Touchdown Club Offensive Lineman of the Year... selected to the 2016 KURM Dream Team and was selected to the 2017 U-18 US National Team... a member of two Class 7A-West conference championship teams, he played on the 2015 class 3A state runner-up. 

Jacob Reed

Lettered at Russellville High School... a two-time all-conference pick... played on the 2016 state championship team. 

Jacob Sharp
WR / 6-2 / 190 / Dover, Ark. (Dover)
Prepped at Dover High School for coach Greg Smith... racked up 1,600 rushing and 1,200 receiving yards... also saw action on defense, picking up 165 tackles and eight interceptions... combined to score 46 touchdowns... an all-conference and all-state selection.
